A British national has been charged with murder, following a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of two Gambians on September 24.

Steven Scott was recently arraigned before Senior Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, where the trial has been taking place.

According to the prosecution, Steven Scott drove a vehicle (registration no. MGSI) in a rash and negligent manner, on the Senegambia Highway, leading to the death of Anta Keita and Awa Fatty, a 12-year-old girl.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

The presiding Senior Magistrate Jawo then granted the Briton a court bail, to a sum of D2 million, with Gambian sureties, one of whom must be in possession of a compound within the Greater Banjul Area.

He then adjourned the case to October 23 for continuation of the proceedings.

Police Prosecutor 772 Samateh, is representing the IGP in the trial.
