Willy Joof, former Permanent Secretary Number 1 of the Department of State for Foreign Affairs, has been charged with official corruption by the state. The charge against Mr. Joof comes in the wake of his sacking, subsequent arrest and detention last week by the police following a petition against him with regards to supposed administrative matters.
When the matter was mentioned last Friday at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court, Mr. Joof denied the charge. He was however granted court bail in the sum of D300,000 with one surety who is to deposit a title deed.
The case is due to resume at the same court on Thursday, 25 October 2007.
