Work at the Grassroots level is an essential part of sports development. If the younger generation is given the necessary training, motivation and encouragement there will be always ready players to deliver what is needed especially in footballing terms.

Cognizant of this fact, the Gunjur Sports Committee staged a junior league championship featuring young players from the areas surrounding Gunjur.

The tourney is at its climax and the final will be played on Sunday, January 6 2008, at the Gunjur Football pitch and will feature Sibindinto FC and World 11 FC.

The final is expected to be graced by high level dignitaries and Dr Amat Gibril Jassey a native of Gunjur will take the kick off.
