Magistrate Lambastes CID Officers for Negligence

Friday, December 21, 2007

Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday remonstrated with some CID officers after being told by one of the prosecutors that some accomplices to Yankuba Camara’s (the accused who had since been apprehended and arraigned before the court) assault on the complainant, were still at large.

He accused the CID officers concerned of not doing their work as was expected of them in the sense that when the accused, Yankuba Camara, was apprehended for robbery with violence the accomplices should also have been brought to court to be tried.
Meanwhile Yankuba Camara was finally sentenced to three years in jail with hard labour. He will serve the sentence at Janjangbureh Prison.

The magistrate got exasperated when Prosecutor Touray told him that another suspect, Ebrima Camara, who was charged with complicity in stealing, was also at large.
Magistrate Mbackeh at length told 870 Touray that he was not satisfied with the work of the CID officers.
