Tiger Security personnel sentenced

Tuesday, July 17, 2007

One Siaka Fatty, a security personnel working with Tiger Security Service (TSS), was yesterday fined D2,500, in default to serve six months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to commit felony, by Magistrate Moses Richards of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

In his plea for mitigation, Mr. Fatty begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying he has a family and his wife had just delivered three days before. He expressed his regret to the court, adding that he would never repeat the crime.

In his judgement, Magistrate Richards, said stealing by private security personnel has become rampant. He said such practices need to be stopped immediately.

He noted the accused was mandated to protect peoples’ properties and not to steal from them. He then sentenced him accordingly.
