Youth to Be Tried for Issuing Fake D100 Bill

A Gambian youth, Muhammed Kebbeh, would be tried by the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for issuing a counterfeited D100 banknote.

Muhammed was yesterday charged with issuing a falsified D100 bill to buy tea and bread, knowing fully well that it was counterfeited. Proceedings would now begin in his trial on 27 July 2007, and the case would be presided over by magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh.

He was in the meantime given bail in the sum of D5000 with a Gambian, who must fulfill the bail requirements, as surety.

In another news, a pastor, John Charles Njie of the Abiding Word Ministries, was recently given a three-year mandatory jail term on charges of forgery.

The pastor cum actor was found guilty of forging the signature of his landlady to enable him sub-let a house.
Charles will now spend three years in jail with hard labour.
