Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday ordered one Momodou Gassama to remain at the remand wing of the State Central Prisons, after threatening to kill his father Mamadou Jabbi.

Appearing before the court, Mamadi Jabbi, a resident of the Serrekunda suburb of London Corner on 10th August, 2007.  While he was away on work, the accused broke into his house and took took some valuable materials with the intention of selling them.

The 70 year-old, who appeared as the first prosecution witness, recalled that the accused had attempted to sell his bed and mattress but unfortunately for him, a man identified as Ousman Jallow, rejected buying them.
Mr Jabbi added that his son later went to his work place threatening to kill him. However, he said his son was restrained by concerned individuals who took him to the Serrekunda Police Station.

Mr Jabbi also informed the court that his son has no mental history, but admitted that he was detained on several occasions at the Serrekunda Police Station for petty stealing.

Ousman Jallow, the second prosecution witness, told the court that he recognisethe accused, saying that he is the son of the complainant. Jallow also recalled the day, when the accused had a quarrel with his father, threatening to kill him. He also confirmed to the court that the accused did break into his father’s house and took some belongings, which he attempted to sell. The case continues today.
