Corporal Ebrima Jabang of the Gambia Armed Forces, on Monday, testified before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates Court in the criminal trial involving Abdoulie Kujabi, an employee of GRTS charged with attempting to commit felony.
In his evidence, Corporal Jabang told the court that on 27th June 2008, at 4:00 am, Abdoulie Kujabi and four other accused persons - Hatab Jammeh, Abdou Joof, Badou Jagne and Sana Nyassi - arrived at the gate of the GRTS Mile 7 studio in a car. He added that he then asked his ‘centre’ man to open the gate for the car, which was loaded with gallons.
According to CP Jabang, he attempted to approach them but his ‘centre’ man warned him that it might not be safe for him to confront them alone. Jabang explained that at that juncture, he ordered the other guards to join him. According to him, upon reaching the car, he asked the driver for the key before the driver and passengers were arrested and taken to the Fajara Barrack for questioning.
Corporal Jabang further revealed to the court that the other four accused persons, during police interrogation, said they were given wrong information by Abdoulie Kujabi, who claimed that he was going to collect his luggage and needed their assistance.
At that juncture, the police prosecutor, Sergeant 870 Touray, tended his application to close his case.
Senior Magistrate Mbake exhorted the security personnel for the good job.
