In what is said to be an unprecedented move in the history of Sports in The Gambia, all district Youth and Sports committees in Western region would storm President Jammeh’s Kanilai farms on Friday August 24, 2007.
According to Inspector Lamin King Kolley, Chairman of Western Region Sports Committee, all the district Sports Committees and teams in the region from Kartong to Kalagi would be traveling to Kanilai to give a helping hand to President Jammeh’s call for back to land.
Mr. Kolley added that despite being a native of Western Region as well as chief patron of Gambia Sports, Western Region youth especially Sports fraternity have never traveled to Kanilai to help President Jammeh in his farms.
Inspector Kolley pointed out that at least 500 people would make the Western Region delegation to Kanilai on Friday.
“We would leave on Friday, farm on Saturday and Sunday and return back on Sunday evening.” Mr. Kolley told Pointsport.
He noted that they would be providing transport for the contingent to and from Kanilai.
He said that President Jammeh has contributed immensely to the development of Western Region especially in the area of Sports and the only thing to say thanks to him is to support all his development programmes.
Mr. Kolley appealed to all those who are selected to join them for Kanilai to report on time on Friday.
