Kaur Health Centre on Monday inaugurated a new hand pump worth about D126, 000 (one hundred and twenty-six thousand dalasis) .The pumps was funded by Agency for Village Support (AVISU).
In his inaugural speech the Director of Agency, Mr. Kebba Lowe, revealed that this project was funded by village Aid UK through his office. He then urged the beneficiaries to put in place mechanisms to effectively monitor the proper use of the pump for sustainability purpose.
For his part, the Public Health Officer of Kaur Health Centre, Momodou Lamin Fofana, thanked AVISU for the gesture as it will ensure safe drinking water for patients. He called on other local NGOs and philanthropist to emulate AVISU.
The Chief of Lower Saloum, Seyfo Alhagie Alie Jaye Touray commended Village Aid UK through AVISU for their support to community initiatives. Seyfo Touray commended President Jammeh for providing a conducive environment for AVISU to operate.
Other speakers at the ceremony include Mr. Badjie the Officer in Charge (OIC) of Kaur Health Centre and Mustapha Njie, the Alkalo of Kaur Wharf Town whom all expressed their sincere gratitude to the donors.
