Alibaba Pizza, Proprietor of Alibaba Restaurant at Senegambia, has expressed his satisfaction over the flow of tourists into the country this year.

Mr Pizza made these remarks during an interview with Daily Observer at his restaurant, in which he gave his impression about the state of The Gambia’s tourism season.

Mr Pizza described this year’s tourism as a remarkable achievement, compared to the previous years.

According to him, his restaurant has seen an increase in the number of tourists in the Tourism Development Area. He observed such a phenomenon was possible because of the significant improvement on the infrastructure, security, and the peaceful atmosphere and friendliness of the Gambian people. He noted the role of the government and the Gambia Tourism Authority (GTA) as well.

Mr Pizza commended the Tourist Security Unit for their contribution in creating a more peaceful atmosphere for the tourists in the TDA. “Many tourists confirmed that The Gambia is a peaceful country and they would always wish to come back to The Gambia. Some even pledge to encourage more of their counterparts to visit the country,” he said. Monika Spenser from Germany, Jerry Plackwell and Kare Jones, both British, Daniel Mekay from Northern Ireland, among other tourists, also spoke to the Daily Observer.
