Gambia Wrestlers Win Africell Sponsored Contest

The Gambia’s Wrestlers emerged victorious over the weekend in the three-day wrestling competition between The Gambia and Senegal.

Organised by The Gambia Wrestling Association, the competition which was staged at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium was well attended.

In the free style combat, Tyson of the Gambia defeated Alfonse of Ziguinchor, while Gambia’s Timbai beat Nicolas of Ziguinchor.

Musa Conteh beat Sankuja of Ziguinchor, Sareteh and Yuba Jatta Combat was defeated by Sareteh.

Boy Bambara of The Gambia beat Tyson of Ziguinchor and Samba defeated Alfred of Ziguinchor.

In the boxing (Boreh dorr) Salieu Wadda, son of veteran Senegalese Wrestler Morr Fadam, defeated Ansumani Touray all of Senegal.

At the end of the Wrestling competition each of the contestants presented with a balance payment of D2,500, amounting to D5,000 each.

The wrestling was attended by the President of Senegalese Wrestling Association Dr Alioune Sarr, Basiru Babou, Manga II, Bala Gai, Morr Fadam, Njaga Sarr, Papa Khan, Boybambara abd Alioune Saye.
