Serrekunda West hopes of winning the 2007 Zonal Championship for the very first time suffered a major set back last Saturday, when fellow contenders Bakau edged them on penalties, despite playing at home.

Serrekunda West held Bakau to a goal-less draw after 90 minutes of play in the semi-finals of the Gambia Football Association zonals, but failed in the post match penalty shoot-outs when they recorded only three goals and Bakau scoring five out of six attempted kicks.

Bakau, two-time winners of the Championship, now qualify for the finals to be played next weekend against Banjul who won Brikama 2-1 last evening.

The finals will be played at the Serrekunda East mini-stadium.
