In UDP Campaign Manager’s case Defence counsel absent

Thursday, March 22, 2007
The criminal trial involving Lamin Cham, UDP Campaign Manager for Serrekunda Central, on Tuesday, resumed at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, but was foreshortened due to the absence of the Defence Counsel, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe.

The sitting would have enabled Police Prosecutor Corporal 772 Samateh to proceed on the case by presenting witnesses. Presiding Magistrate Amina Saho-Ceesay then adjourned the case for a second time, to Tuesday, April 10.

Mr Cham is being trialed for obstruction and acting in a manner that breached the peace in the community. He was said to have obstructed Baboucarr Jabbie, IEC Presiding Officer at the Bundung Borehole polling station 33A, during the last National Assembly elections on January 25.

However, he had earlier, pleaded not guilty of the charges.
