FEGAMSO Annual Inter-School Competition Slated for May 3rd

The annual inter-school competition of the Federation of the Gambia Muslim Students Organization FEGAMSO is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 3rd 2008, youth forum revealed.

FEGAMSO was founded in 1995 and is the umbrella body of all school based Islamic clubs and societies in the country. Apart from the executive branch, it also has regional committees nation wide.

The group aims to propagate the teaching of Islam among Gambian student through the organization of events of this type.

According to Mr. Mustapha Barry, President of FEGAMSO, several Upper Basic and Senior secondary schools from around the country will participate in the event. Mr. Barry, however, lamented the lack of resources hindering the successful hosting of the activity and called for additional support.  Last year’s inter-school competition was sponsored solely by the Gambian Leader, President Jammeh.

Meanwhile, the agenda for the event consists of recitations of the Holy Quran, discussions of the life and history of the prophet, lectures on the importance of the peaceful coexistence of different faiths and sects, talks about the significance and revolution of the Quran, Salat, Da’wa, and speeches just to name but a few.
