In yet another milestone towards the socio-ecnomic development of The Gambia, the West Africa Foundation on Wednesday presented two cheques totalling D70,000 to the Jammeh Foundation for Peace and SoS Children’s Village at a presentation ceremony held at the Dunes Resort and Casino.

Fatou Mas Jobe who coordinated the presentation ceremony, lauded the West Africa Foundation for their effort, which she said is geared towards contributing to the economic development of The Gambia. According to her , Jammeh Foundation for Peace aims to improve the quality of education, health ,agriculture and youth development.

She said that the Foundation has developed a keen interest in the development of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace, a stance that can be explained by their donation of D35,000 to the scholarship fund, which would provide support to needy students with outstanding performance, particularly in the Science field.

Similarly, the SOS children’s village, she added, would also receive D35,000 from the West Africa Foundation. She expressed hope that the donation will help in the attainment of SoS’s vision to provide needy children with a family, home, respect and security.
For his part Mr David Ford, the chairman and founder of the West Africa Foundation, expressed optimism that these funds will be used accordindly.

The West Africa Foundation was founded and established in May 2006 in the Gambia with the aim of building capacities at community level for self reliance through sustainable development.

Present at the ceremony were Bai Matarr Drammeh, President of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ansumana Julakay among others .
