The district tournament organised by the Upper Nuimi Sports Committee is at its final group stages with teams like Kerr Mama Kerr Chebou Matty and Prince FC being the first to book their tickets to the quarter finals.
Kerr Mama have already made it to the quarter finals after securing three wins with nine points in group B. Despite a single match to go, they are comfortably sitting at the top of the table. The holder of second position, who will join the group winner in the quarter finals, will be decided in the last group matches.
Pakau Njogu, Kahel, and Pakau Saloum all in Group b have quarter finals credentials as a win by any of the teams in their final matches will surely allow them to make it to the next stage.
Bottom place Sameh have already fallen by the wayside with no point yet.
Kerr Chebou Matty top group D with four points followed by Kerr Alpha with three point and bottom placed Passy Mamut Jaw with a single point.
Group E is led by Prince FC with four points. Prince and Kerr Sidiki each had four points but Prince edged them on goal difference. Kerr Sidiki are now second followed by Kaba koto who failed to secure any points in the competition. Both groups D and C are made up of three teams and, as a result, they have completed their group matches while the other groups have about two matches to play.
Group A is still undecided and all the teams have a chance to qualify but so far Lamin is leading followed by Sittanunka, Albreda, Toubakolong and Juffereh.
Fass Omar Saho, Kerr Decodeh, Mamuda are all on four points each in group C. This group is also not decided but it seems to be a three horse race for the top two position. However, one casualty must fall behind to join Bakalarr and Kerr Demba in bottom spot.
Group A matches will continue this weekend in Nuimi Lamin Football field. As part of its third group matches Lamin will meet Albreda on Friday while the Toubakolong and Sittanunku encounter is set for Saturday. Sunday’s encounter will be between Albreda and Juffereh.
A handsome giant trophy and cash prize of D7,000.00 awaits the winner while the runners-up will receive D4,000.00 with a trophy.
